Because of that, Down in the County is committed to putting photography first in its stories.

Each month, Down in the County publishes an events calendar and list of available resources! The goal is to connect people in Pamlico County with others and provide opportunities to volunteer and get involved.

The Witches’ Crawl in Oriental, N.C… a yearly Halloween benefit for a different cause every year. This year, donations went to Friends of the Pamlico Library and their fund for the new Pamlico County Public Library. Photo by Kendra Smith, a YNTO Snapshot.

Through a collaboration with Youth Navigating Toward Opportunity (YNTO), Down in the County has created a group of student journalists called the YNTO Snapshots! These Pamlico County students learn about how to make documentary photographs and gain experience in journalism by writing stories of their own.
